NEDA Secretary (2016-2020) and UPSE Professor Emeritus Dr. Ernesto M. Pernia is the main speaker of the upcoming PCED@50 Lecture on 17 November 2023, Friday, 3PM at the UPSE Auditorium.

Dr. Pernia’s lecture titled “PH: What Could Have Been, What Can Be Done?” will also feature discussants Dr. Adoracion Navarro of PIDS, Chief Economist Domini Velasquez of Chinabank, and Dr. Jaime Galvez Tan of Health Futures Foundation. Renowned journalist and anchor Ms. Karen Davila will host and moderate the event.

Ang Gáwad José Encarnación para sa Kagalíngan sa Ekonómiks, o José Encarnación Award* for Excellence in Economics ay ipinagkakáloob sa mag-aarál na undergraduate na nagkamít ng pínakamataas na Economics Weighted Average (EWA).

Sa taong ito, ang nagtamo ng Encarnacion Award for Excellence in Economics na may EWA na 1.0833 ay si Joshua Raphael Nuval Ambrosio.

* Si José Enarnación, Jr. ay isá sa mga pinakadakílang gurô at mánanaliksik ng ekonómiks sa Pilipinas. Siya ang pínakamatagal na dekáno ng School of Ekonomics. Nagsilbi siya sa katungkulang ito sa loob ng dalawampúng (20) taon. Ipinanganák noong 1928 at namatáy noong 1998, si Dekáno Encarnación din ang káuna-unáhang Pambansáng Siyentípiko (National Scientist) para sa Ekonómiks. Bukod sa pagiging tagapagbunsód ng edukasyóng ekonomiks sa Pilipínas, si Dekáno Encarnación din ang pangunáhing nagsulong ng teorya ng lexicographic preferences. Taun-taon, ipinagkakáloob ang Gawad para sa Kagalingan sa Ekonomiks sa ngalan ni Dekano Encarnación bílang pagkilála sa kaniyang mga ambág sa páaralan at sa larangan ng ekonómiks.
